“Soulmates”

There was one

Then there were two

Slowly… slowly

like when people fall in and out of love

A pinch of sweetness

A splash of real talk

One by two molded a better me

My dull life into a thriller ride

They’ve seen my true colors

as I have seen theirs

Sometimes rainbow

and sometimes dark grey

Sailing through the seas of heartbreak

No compass, no sails

Just each other as anchors

and folded hands by our side

Your honey brown eyes

Your root beer brown eyes

Your ever changing blue-grey, teal eyes

are the windows to our connection

The echoing laughers that made our noses crinkle and limbs go numb

Staying put in our numerous Ted talks with open ears

like when there’s two people at the end of a boring book reading

Not even a day where we don’t tell each other about our moments in life

Not even a day where the exchanges of “I love yous” isn’t floating in the air

Not even a moment where our smiles fade into a resting bitch face

Not even a chance

The times spent, the times present, and the times to come

Our vows to be there through each headache and in good spirits

while doing our “Pretty Girl Rock”

My sister wives

My soulmates

“Inside a Temple”

The mighty conch signals its devotees

A few folded hands there

A few cupped hands here

Simultaneously

The priest rings the ghanti

and sways

then rotates the holy fire in a clockwise motion

All in all

Chanting the sacred hymns

The beat of the drum guiding our heart beat

In sync with the sweet notes of the melodies

All our worries and sorrows drift from our bodies

Unto the feet of the Devas

Their divine porcelain figures

Enrobed with dazzling crimson red and gold pieces of cloth

Armed with their prized possessions

Watching

Each one of us

Listening

To our pleas that cries in pain

To our pleas that yearns to be fulfilled

To our inner secrets that wants to be forgiven

Behind that sublime yet enigmatic smile

They give their blessings

We are blessed
